\nDuring the warmer months, oxygenation tends to decrease as excessive heating of the pond or aquarium causes oxygen deficiency; the water thus loses its natural balance and the fish do not receive enough oxygen to live optimally. A lack of oxygen can also encourage the growth of harmful bacteria and algae.
\nExcessive cold also causes oxygenation problems: without proper ventilation, water currents are not created. The pond may therefore freeze, depriving plants and fish of oxygen.
