Take into account the circulation cycle of the pond and the retention time of the water in the filter.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the type of use, the optimal circulation cycle depends on various factors: the amount of fish, the presence of plants, sunlight, and the desired water clarity.<\/p>\n<p>A cycle is defined as the complete replacement of the water in the pond; for example, in a 1000 litre pond with a 500 L\/h pump, the complete replacement cycle will last 2 hours.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of ponds with fish or koi carp, 1 complete cycle every 3 hours is recommended; 2 cycles in 1 hour should be achieved in the case of no plants and a high density of fish.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of decorative ponds (i.e. with plants and no fish), less circulation is required.
