The LEDDY SLIM DUO SUNNY PLANT&NIGHT lamp operates in three operating modes: DAY (SUNNY 100% power + PLANT 100% power), DAYBREAK (SUNNY 50% power + PLANT 50% power + NIGHT 100% power) and NIGHT (NIGHT 100% power) ). DAY is the basic and strongest light for illuminating the aquarium during the day. DAYBREAK works well as the first mode after the night and when feeding fish, especially if you have shy specimens. NIGHT is a blue light that allows a unique observation of the aquarium after sunset, including nocturnal fish and animals. DAY & NIGHT lighting will highlight the aquarium layout both during the day and at night and make the interior more welcoming. The operating mode DAY / DAY BREAK / NIGHT is changed after switching the module off and on again with the switch within a maximum time of 5 seconds. The direct change to DAY mode occurs after switching the module off for a period of more than 5 seconds and switching it on again. It is preferable to automate this process using the modern SOCKET DUO aquarium controller.

The open aquarium is an excellent option for those looking for modern, designer aquarium solutions. It is especially preferred by fans of styles such as the Dutch, Japanese or biotope aquarium. Thanks to its natural appearance, an open aquarium can become an attractive element of the decor and attract the attention of guests. It also ensures better air humidity in the room, which is particularly beneficial for those suffering from respiratory diseases.

Open aquaria are tanks without a cover for lighting. In this case, beam-mounted lighting or pendant lamps are used. Lamps mounted on the side edges or the rear wall of the tank are also often used. The latter are dedicated to small capacity 'nano' tanks.

There are usually two reasons for this. Firstly, the tank must look good, i.e. natural. The light must ensure that the fish and plants have beautiful colours, appropriate to a certain species, and the whole thing will be an undisputed decoration of the room. The second objective is equally important: the vast majority of aquarists want to have healthy, well-grown plants in their aquarium. Plants need light to grow for 10-12 hours a day, which is the 'engine' of photosynthesis, a natural process by which they transform inorganic compounds into organic substances necessary for their life. Therefore, correctly chosen light will also ensure that the aquarium looks good and the plants grow well.

How much light is there in the aquarium?

How much light does an aquarium need? It depends on the plant species we intend to grow. As far as light requirements are concerned, they can be divided into three groups:

Group I - shade-tolerant species, e.g. 'pelia', mosses, winged microsorium, vine moss, some plants (e.g. Aponogetonofolia, Wendt assemblage, Backett assemblage, Malaysian assemblage), anubias.

Group II - moderately light-loving species, e.g. ballweed, aquaiole, rosaceae, tiger lotus, ludwigia, broad-leaved aquaiola, three-flowered aquaiola, frogfish, broad-leaved dart, argentine aquaiola, common giant aquaiola, compacts, limnophiles, small-leaved bacopa, Thai marmoset, ponikło , Japanese blyksa, spearworts.

Group III - decidedly photophilic species, such as cabomba, glossostigma, hemianthus.

Usually, the conversion of lighting power to litres of aquarium water is used. It is conventionally assumed that, in the case of LED lamps for growing shade-tolerant plants, at least 0.15-0.2 W per litre of water is required. Medium-demanding plants need 0.25-0.4 W/l and very light-loving plants even 0.5-0.7 W/l.

A 'day' in the aquarium can fall at practically any time of day. If the tank is away from the windows and is lit only by artificial light, the times at which the lighting can be switched on and off can be virtually any. The best thing is simply to adjust them according to our preferences and the times when we are usually present in the flat (e.g. 'sunrise' at 3 p.m. and 'sunset' at 1 a.m.). This way we can enjoy the beauty of our 'piece of the underwater world' in well-lit places.
