Zeolite is a naturally microporous rock of volcanic origin, very useful for lowering ammonium and ammonia values
The most outstanding feature of zeolite is its high absorption capacity. The concentration of many pollutants is lowered. With this removal in the first stage of the nitrification chain, the formation of nitrites is prevented and thus the accumulation of nitrates in aquarium water is also prevented. The reduction of nutrients is a disincentive to algae growth and improves coral colouration.
This material should be properly inserted in various filters of any shape or even in bags placed where there is water flow. It has application in both marine and freshwater aquaria.
