Technical Background

The concentration of dissolved and suspended organic matter in any aquatic environment can have a significant impact on the general appearance of an entire system, as well as the health of the organisms residing in it. Environments with a relatively low nutrient load are characterised by water clarity, a lack of unpleasant odours and the absence of microalgae and cyanobacteria; this is overall the result of a lack of Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Carbon compounds. Aquaria that are relatively rich in available nutrients have the opposite characteristics to those mentioned above and are not normally desired due to the resulting appearance of the system and the difficulty of maintaining healthy inhabitants in the aquarium.

Brightwell Aquatics MicrōBacterCLEAN is a highly effective enzyme and bacteria selective compound that not only rapidly reduces the concentration of organic Nitrogen, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate and Organic Carbon in all marine ecosystems, but also makes maintenance easy, reducing dirt build-up and patinas.

MicrōBacterCLEAN does not require refrigeration, however, storage in a cool place away from light will prolong activity and maximise product life. Keep away from heat!

Instructions and Guidelines

Shake the product before use. Mix an appropriate amount of MicrōBacterCLEAN (as shown below) with 250ml aquarium water in a container. If a pipette is used to dose MicrōBacterCLEAN ensure the pipette is clean or washed thoroughly with fresh water before inserting it into the bottle of MicrōBacterCLEAN failure to do so will contaminate the product. Better results can be obtained by adding the mixture to the external biological filtration system. Works particularly well when used with Xport. Do not administer at pump suction. Switch off the skimmer and UV lamp for 4 hours after dosing in the aquarium. While using MicrōBacterCLEAN, continue to carry out proper aquarium maintenance practices, such as regular vacuuming, using purified water and limiting the addition of unnecessary nutrients.

For normal cleaning and maintaining a clean aquarium: add 20 ml per 94.6 litres of water (≈16 drops per 3.8 litres) once a week. 

For aquaria with problems or to speed up cleaning quickly: Dose 30 ml per 94.6 litres of water (≈24 drops per 3.8 litres) on the first day, then dose 5 ml per 94.6 litres (≈4 drops per 3.8 litres) every day for the next 2 weeks, or longer if the desired results have not yet been obtained.

Bacteria work slowly, so results could take up to 8-10 weeks for an aquarium that has been neglected for a long time.
