DiST 3 is robust and reliable, ideal for use in the field. This new instrument is less than 2 cm thick, ergonomic and comfortable to hold. It is also easy to use because it has only two buttons: one for power on and off, the other for the calibration function.

The DiST 3 has a large multi-level display that simultaneously shows conductivity (EC) and temperature measurements. EC measurements are displayed with 1 µS/cm resolution and accuracy ±2% f.s. The EC scale of the HI98303 is 0 to 2000 µS/cm. The integrated temperature sensor enables EC measurements with automatic temperature compensation. The temperature can be displayed in ℃ or ℉. The display shows stability indicators and calibration standards. The battery percentage is displayed when the instrument is switched on.

Conductivity measurements are made with a graphite amperometric sensor that resists oxidation, ensuring better measurement repeatability. The use of graphite also reduces the effect of polarisation, typical of amperometric testers using two stainless steel pins.

Calibration is simply performed by pressing the calibration button. When in calibration mode, simply immerse the sensor in the standard calibration solution 1413 µS/cm. When the value of the standard is recognised and stability achieved, the instrument automatically accepts and stores the calibration value.

Setup options include the possibility of setting the temperature unit (°C or °F) and the automatic switch-off function selectable from 8 minutes, 60 minutes or off. To enter setup mode, simply press the button located in the battery compartment.
